GPL PRESIDING OFFICERS TO VISIT CORRECTIONAL SERVICES CENTRES IN GAUTENG
Presiding Officers of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will visit various Correctional Service Centres across the province this week on Tuesday and Thursday to mark the Nelson Mandela Month. The Presiding Officers will be accompanied by 60 learners from various schools across the Gauteng province.
As representatives of the citizens of the province, the Presiding Officers seeks to reinforce values of non-racism, equal rights, reconciliation, an end to poverty and safety for all citizens. The Presiding Officers will interact with inmates and speak to learners about the importance of respecting the law and making wise decisions as future leaders and drivers of change.
The Presiding Officers visits will be as follows:
- Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Services Centre in Tshwane on Tuesday 26 July 2022 at 10h00
- Johannesburg Women’s Correctional Services Centre in City of Joburg on Thursday 28 July 2022 at 10h00
Members of the media are invited to attend the visits and due to strict security protocols at the Correctional Centres, are required to bring their press cards for access to the Centres.
