TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS COMMITTEE TO CONVENE ANOTHER PUBLIC HEARING ON TRANSPORT BILLS

Chairperson, Honourable Gregory Schneemann, will lead the Gauteng Legislature’s Portfolio Committee of Transport & Logistics’ public hearing on the National Land Transport Amendment Bill, Economic Regulations of Transport Bill and National Road Traffic Amendment Bill at Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre in Cosmo City on Friday, 25 August 2023 at 09h00.

About the Bills

  • The National Land Transport Amendment Bill provides for non-motorised and accessible transport, brings the Act up to date with developments since the implementation of the Act, and provides for certain powers of provinces to conclude contracts for public transport services.
  • The Economic Regulations of Transport Amendment Bill promotes South Africa’s economic growth and welfare by promoting a productive transport sector to establish two parallel independent but integrated regulatory agencies.
  • The National Road Traffic Amendment Bill provides for the registration and licensing of motor vehicles, manufacturers, builders, body builders, importers and manufacturers of number plates.

The public hearing on the Bills is scheduled as follows:
