SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE REVIEWS DEPARTMENT’S PERFOMANCE REPORT FOR 2023/2024 FINANCIAL YEAR
On Tuesday, 24 October 2023, the Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Social Development will review the 2022/2023 performance report of the Gauteng Department of Social Development to verify that all public funds were spent on service delivery priorities.
Taking place at the Merafong Civic Centre, in Carletonville, the review meeting will be open to the public, who must either confirm or dispute what the Department has reported based – in accordance with their experience as service delivery recipients.
The review of annual performance reports of Departments is among the key methods that the Legislature exercises oversight and ‘watchdog’ role on the Gauteng Government, to ensure that every cent in the public purse is spent on the needs and priorities of Gauteng communities.
