The Gauteng Legislature’s Oversight Committee on the Office of The Premier & The Legislature (OCPOL) is concerned with the alleged corruption relating to the COVID-19 PPE procurement process.

With investigations underway to ensure compliance with good corporate governance, three high risk areas have been identified in the Provincial Disaster Management Command Centre: Personal protective equipment, donations and the food relief program.

Led by Chairperson, Honourable Bonginkosi Dhlamini, the OCPOL Committee will host the Office of the Premier to receive a presentation on the process undertaken to investigate the corruption relating to the procurement of personal protective equipment for COVID-19 in the GPG.

To date, the Office of the Premier and the Special Investigating Unit have been conducting weekly meetings to track the progress made on the investigation.

The OCPOL Committee is committed to its responsibility to scrutinize the Budget, Quarterly and Annual reports of the Office of the Premier (OoP) and the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) and further analyze activities of the GPL to determine whether the Institution fulfills its Constitutional mandate and supports Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) in exercising their functions and performing their duties.

The Office of the Premier will meet virtually with the OCPOL Committee on Friday, 14th August 2020 from 10H00.
