The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Multi‑Party Women’s Caucus is attending the Gender‑Responsive Budgeting (GRB) Training Programme at the ITCILO in Turin, Italy, from 16–20 March 2026.

This in‑person training follows the online phase completed in January 2026. It focuses on strengthening the GPL delegation’s understanding of gender‑responsive budgeting across the entire budget cycle and introduces practical ways in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support legislative work and inclusive governance.

The GRB training will allow Members, with the support of officials, to:

  • Analyse budgets with a stronger focus on fairness, inclusion and equity.
  • Identify gender gaps in programme funding and performance early in the budget cycle.
  • Strengthen committee oversight by linking budget allocations to measurable outcomes for communities.
  • Use AI tools to support evidence‑based decision‑making and enhance scrutiny of departmental performance.
  • Align oversight work with national and global commitments, including SDG 5.

The MPWC envisions extending this GRB training to all 7th Term Members by the end of the term. This will ensure that the Legislature develops a shared understanding and consistent implementation of gender‑responsive public finance and modern oversight tools

The programme is delivered by the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin and will conclude with the certification of all delegates who successfully complete the course
