Chairperson, William Matsheke, will lead the Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation when it holds a roundtable discussion on Grant-In-Aid funding and its impact.
The purpose of the roundtable discussion is to assess the implementation of Grant-In-Aid funding and its impact on assisting the Department achieve its mandate through the organizations that they support. Furthermore, the Committee will assess the extent of the Department’s monitoring of the fund’s expenditure, to ascertain that the money is used for its intended purpose.
To achieve the purpose of the Roundtable discussion, the following objectives will be pursued:
- To determine the kind of support the community organizations receive from the Department.
- To examine the role played by the community organizations in community development.
- To establish the sustainability of these organizations if funding is no longer provided; and
- To find out what kind of challenges the organizations face and how the challenges can be addressed.
