CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO MUNICIPALITIES ACROSS GAUTENG PROVINCE
The Acting Speaker of Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Hon. Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane takes pleasure in congratulating Municipalities in Gauteng Province for holding their inaugural council meetings successfully following the local government elections held on 1 November 2021.
The Acting Speaker further extends her congratulatory message to the newly elected Mayors and Executive Mayors, Speakers and Chief Whips of various councils across Gauteng province.
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature looks forward to a prolific working relations with the offices of the speakers of councils through the Gauteng Speakers Forum to effectively fulfil the Constitutional mandates of oversight and accountability of the legislative sector at provincial and municipal level.
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature remains committed to building strategic partnerships as part of its cooperative governance mandate and towards building better communities and achieve our common goals of building the province of Gauteng as a globally competitive city region.
The Acting Speaker further wishes to commend the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) for delivering succesful, transparent and credible Local Government Elections (GLE) and leaders of political parties for accepting the outcome of the results of the elections.
In conclusion, the Acting Speaker would like to encourage the communities to be involved in the processes of the local government such as planning and budgeting to ensure that municipal services are provided in an equitable, and financially sustainable manner.
