COMMITTEE CONSIDERS CITY OF JOBURG PETITIONS
The Gauteng Legislature’s Standing Committee on Petitions will lead a Petitions Public Hearing at the Thusang Multipurpose Centre, Poortjie
Grasmere, on Thursday 19 May 2022.
The hearing will be convened to review and resolve all adopted resident petitions from the City of Joburg region, which remain unclosed to date.
The Committee will address a broad range of unresolved service delivery related petitions ranging from a delayed title deed for a petitioner in Diepkloof, Soweto; to an unresolved encroachment matter in Alexandra; and slow development in the Poortjie area. Also due for review and resolution will be resident petitions regarding the slow allocation of RDP homes, which have become a standard feature in the Committee’s petitions register across Gauteng regions.
Relevant authorities from the Gauteng Provincial Government will be on hand to answer questions and assist in the resolution of resident petitions.
The public hearing forms part of the Committee’s range of mechanisms that are geared towards holding Provincial Government Departments accountable for service delivery in communities, and ensuring the effectiveness of Municipalities in delivering their mandates.
