A born community builder and political activist, Bishop Adams has from 1978 to date advocated for peace, justice and equality in several parts of South Africa, namely, Gauteng: Noordgesig, Westbury, Claremont & Johannesburg at large; Western Cape: Kuilsrivier, Macassar; Eastern Cape: Breidbach, East London, King Williams Town; and KwaZulu-Natal: Wentworth, Stanger and surrounding areas.
His contribution in Breidbach in 1996 was acknowledged by the then City Council and thus named a street after him; ‘Dalton Adams Crescent’, for his skill in mediation and tactful strategic contributions in peacekeeping negotiations.
Bishop Adams has served on a number of boards namely: National Central Drug Authority Board (2 years); Provincial Gauteng Liquor Board (3 years); Chairperson of the Moral Regeneration Movement (2 years); Local Government Rahima Moosa Hospital Board (1 year); JOSHCO Housing Board (1 year); Pikitup Board (2 years); Provincial Chairperson of Faith Based Organisations and Member of the National Board of Faith Board Organisations (10 years); Provincial Gender Forum for Gender Commission (2 years).
His accomplishments involve many efforts in promoting the generation and spread of new ideas to end multigenerational poverty and illuminate the plight for equality (which includes race, gender and social class) within the community development world. He has been actively engaged in pursuits to unite communities and achieve excellent outcomes in distressed communities.
These efforts are evinced in Bishop Adams ability to develop and maintain public trust
something that is notoriously hard to do (between police and residents, across generations, across lines of race, ethnicity and gender) in communities of concentrated poverty.
He has demonstrated his adeptness in institutionalizing leadership from Government, non-profits, the private sector, and community residents to ensure the long-term success of projects and government initiatives.
He boasts extensive knowledge of local and regional political scene, and a solid understanding of hot button issues from various political viewpoints.
From 2019 to 2023 he was appointed to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) as the Chairperson of Committee on the Scrutiny of Sub-Ordinate Legislation (CSSL).
In 2023 to date, he served in Economic Development Portfolio Committee, Social Development Portfolio Committee, Sports, Arts, Culture & Recreation Portfolio Committee, Education Portfolio Committee, Co-Operative, Governance, Traditional Affairs & E-Government Portfolio Committee, OCPOL, Rules Standing Committee, Programming Committee and Privileges & Ethics standing Committee. He was reappointed as a Member of the GPL for the 7th administration.
