The Research Unit of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature is planning to host a Brown Bag session on the topic of Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting (GRPB): Experiences and Lessons from Africa. This initiative is part of the Legislature’s ongoing efforts to enhance its oversight function, provide research support for informed debate on current issues, and foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
The Brown Bag session is designed to be a platform for diverse perspectives. It will bring together politicians from various parties in the Legislature, political analysts, academics, youth, and experts from academic and research institutions, as well as the Legislature’s staff. The goal is to capture the current state of discourse and explore the role of legislatures in a constitutional democracy.
In addition to the in-person attendance, the session will also be live-streamed, allowing a wider audience to participate. This will enable those who are unable to attend in person to join the discussion, ask questions, and share their views. The live stream will provide an opportunity for more people to engage with the topic, contributing to a richer and more inclusive dialogue.
The Brown Bag session is not just an event, but a commitment to fostering a culture of open dialogue and collaborative learning. By participating, attendees will be contributing to the ongoing development of a robust and responsive legislative framework. The session promises to be an enlightening and engaging experience, and we encourage everyone to join us, either in person in the Gauteng Legislature Auditorium (directions) or via the live stream.
