The Gauteng Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Infrastructure Development & Property Management will convene a joint Committee meeting to address challenges experienced by the Nokuthula LSEN School.
During its oversight visit at the state-of-the-art school valued at around R300 million in February 2020, the Committee conducted an inspection of the facility and established concerning infrastructure deficiencies which might have been caused by poor workmanship.
The Committee further established that the school was operating using a temporary occupational certificate which prevents the school from utilising some of the much needed facilities within the school premises.
As a result of these, the Committee resolved to convene a joint Committee meeting with the Portfolio Committee on Education as well as the Gauteng Department of Education & Youth Development, the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development & Property Management and the City of Johannesburg to collectively find immediate solutions that will see the school becoming a centre of excellence that will provide high quality education to the learners it serves.
Members of the media are invited to cover the meeting.
