This event is about celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the 1956 Women`s March. As with other Sector Parliaments, the Women’s Sector Parliament is held annually and includes discussions around topical issues affecting the Sector – in this case the women of South Africa.
The theme this year is “Following up on our commitments: women united in moving South Africa forward”
The theme of the 2016 National Women’s Sector Parliament is “Following up on our commitments: women united in moving South Africa forward” and the following topics will be discussed and debated:
- The gendered implications of poverty, inequality and unemployment.
- The impact of land reform, restitution, redistribution and security of tenure for women.
- The gendered implications of social cohesion and nation-building.
